IPOH, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- Chairmen of traditional and new village development and security committees (JKKK) in Perak will receive a "pay increase" of RM150 a month effective next month.
The incentive will be in addition to the existing monthly allowance of RM800 which they receive from the federal and state governments.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the special additional allowance was approved in the Budget 2011 which was tabled last month.
The special allowance , involving an allocation of RM1.3 million a year, would be paid from January 2011, he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here today.
He hoped that with the additional allowance, the JKKK chairmen would be able to discharge their responsibilities to the best of their ability for the interests of the people in their respective villages.
The government, he said, would terminate the service of any JKKK chairmen who failed to perform as expected.
He said the JKKK chairmen were appointed on a two-year contract, but that the government would not hesitate to revoke the contract of those who failed to perform during the period.
In another development, the weekly state executive council meeting, which is held on Wednesday, can be viewed live through www.peraknewsonline.com.
