MIRI, Dec 11 — A total of 1,100 kampungs, 600 in Sarawak and 500 in Sabah, will be turned into "Wi-fi kampungs" next year, said Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum.
He said funds from the Universal Service Provider (USP) facility would be enlisted for the purpose.
He told this to reporters after attending a 1 Malaysia gathering at Beluru town, about 90km from here, today.
The function was opened by Sarawak Planning and Resources Management II Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
