LABIS,Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Tenang state seat by-election Mohd Azahar Ibrahim took time off from his busy campaign schedule to visit flood victims in Kampung Lembah Bakti here today.
Heavy rains since yesterday caused some low-lying areas in the constituency, including Kampung Lembah Bakti to be inundated, forcing 92 people from 17 families to take refuge at the village's hall.
The former Rengit sub-district assistant district officer braved floodwaters to visit the victims and monitor the flood damage and relief efforts.
Umno Kampung Lembah Bakti branch chief Ahmad Abdul Rani, 62, said the BN election machinery extended aid to the victims along with the Welfare Services Department.
Meanwhile, several residents expressed their appreciation to the BN election machinery and Mohd Azahar, who is fondly known as "Tok Ai" among the locals, for visiting them and extending the aid.
A flood victim, Salimah Ali said the residents were moved by the BN and Mohd Azahar's humanitarian ways.
