Subang Jaya, 28 January 2018 – PROTON and UEM Edgenta Berhad (“UEM Edgenta”) recently held a ceremony to symbolise the handover of 32 units of Proton cars, consisting of Persona and Perdana, which will be used for the daily operations of Edgenta PROPEL Berhad (“Edgenta PROPEL”), the Infra Services Division and wholly owned subsidiary of UEM Edgenta.

The ceremony took place at the PROTON Centre of Excellence which saw Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON presenting a mock key to Dato’ Azmir Merican, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Edgenta in the presence of Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of PROTON, who witnessed the occasion.

“Edgenta PROPEL is the country’s leading network management and infrastructure maintenance specialists with over 25 years of experience in the infrastructure maintenance management industry. It manages, maintains and monitors over 2,500 kilometres of expressways, state as well as plantation roads in Malaysia, and the operations is 24/7, 365 days a year. To achieve maximum operational efficiency as well as ensure the safety of our on-the-ground employees, we decided to undertake a fleet renewal programme which sees us replacing our current cars that are over 10 years old. Given the reliability and durability of Proton vehicles, I’m confident we are able to achieve our objectives”.

“Our commitment to operational efficiency will continue and our fleet renewal programme will be expanded to include procurement of additional lorries and pick-up trucks before the end of the year (2018),” said Dato’ Azmir.

“Our relationship with UEM Edgenta goes a long way since 2002. Since then, a total of 236 units of Proton cars have been purchased via our corporate fleet sales programme and this includes the recent purchase of 30 units of Persona and 2 units of Perdana. Our Persona has become one of our best-selling units since it was launched in 2016 for its great handling and excellent safety features, whilst the Perdana is seen as a bold and stylish car. We appreciate the continuous support from UEM Edgenta and we shall provide our best services to them,” said Dr Li.

He also expressed that, “I believe trust is built because they have faith in the affordability, reliability and durability of Proton cars, which they have experienced over the years. A company car needs to be reliable yet easy to maintain, factors which are highly important for consideration before a company decides to purchase a car. These are the winning factors in our products apart from its great driveability. We hope the ongoing relationship will continue to spur more sales from UEM Edgenta in the future”.
