PUTRAJAYA: There is no fairness and transparency in PKR as can be seen in Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's withdrawal from the party's elections, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said Zaid's actions should make people realise the flaws in the party.
"He (Zaid) had stated he wanted to join PKR to strengthen it, and today he is lamenting that PKR is not what he thought it was," said Muhyiddin after chairing a meeting of the National Education Advisory Council, here.
Zaid pulled out of PKR's deputy presidential race on Monday alleging vote-rigging and resigned from all party posts.
Muhyiddin said PKR regarded itself as the leader of the opposition pact but there is uncertainty in the party itself.
"Their members seem not so confident. How are the people going to have confidence in a party which claims to champion fairness, transparency and human rights but is itself in disarray?" he said.
Muhyiddin said the people should realise that what PKR was championing was mere political rhetoric and nothing real.
He said it was strange that PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail did not do anything to solve the problems in the party.
"Usually, in a political party, the leaders have to solve problems. I do not know who the leader (in PKR) is - Anwar, Azmin or Azizah?
"It is not good for an organisation if it is unclear who the leader is," he said.
Meanwhile, Penang PKR chief Mansor Othman chided Zaid for "giving up."
"I don't think Zaid is a real fighter because when he faces pressure, he gives up," Mansor told reporters at the Penang State Legislative Assembly building.
"He (Zaid) does not face pressure from the party leaders but the voices of the grassroots have indicated that he might lose, so he gives up," he said.
On the electoral fraud alleged by Zaid, Mansor said if there was such, he should raise it through the proper channel and not openly to the press.
