93.1 Per Cent Of Perak's Funds Already Spent On 9MP ProjectsI

IPOH, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- Perak has spent 93.1 per cent of its allocation provided under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) on projects up to November, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Dr Zambry said Perak received RM8.2 billion for the 9MP which included physical expenditure such as construction of infrastructure and buildings, as well as the non-physical such as parks and tree planting.

"From this amount, only nine of the 1,565 physical expenditure are not yet complete and a majority involves the construction of schools...the projects were not terminated but only delayed due to technical problems.

"The government hopes all construction will be ready before the 10th Malaysia Plan begins," he told reporters after launching the DWJ Boutique Hotel in Greentown, here Thursday.

Regarding the nine uncompleted projects, Dr Zambry said they were not categorised as abandoned because construction was still ongoing.

He said he hoped the construction of these projects could be expedited as they were currently recorded at between 17 and 47 per cent completion.

"There are several factors for the delay such as technical problems, changes in plan and others which involve several ministries, but these issues have been resolved," he said, adding some projects were postponed due to problems with contractors.
