BN can't copied by outsiders

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) cannot be copied or destroyed by outside elements because of the strong bond and sincerity that had been established which reflected the closeness of the party to the people, said BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

He said the BN was not just any party, in fact, it was not easy to be replaced by the opposition because it reflected the definition of the Malaysian people.

"The BN is also not one or two years old but had matured and endured numerous problems and crises in the country. It had never surendered or given in to the challenges faced," he said in his welcoming speech at the third Barisan Nasional Convention at the Wisma MCA, here today.

The convention, attended by about 2,340 delegates from the BN component parties, BN friends and non-governmental organisations with the theme '1People, 1Nation, 1Vision', was officially opened by BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also the Prime Minister.

Tengku Adnan said the convention was an effort to continue to champion the cause of the people by looking into their problems and implementing changes based on the aspirations of the people.

Those who attended the convention observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect to former Penang chief minister Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu who died on Nov 24 following a stroke.
