Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the opposition was lying when it claimed that there was still close police watch over the state assembly sitting.
He said the last sitting in November went on smoothly with the opposition assemblymen also present at the four-day meeting.
"We had seen what the situation was really like in the assembly hall and around the State Assembly building....there were no policemen everywhere as claimed
"So, there's no need to lie or find an excuse if they (opposition) don't want to attend the sitting," he said after chairing a Perak Water Board meeting, here, Friday.
Bukit Gantang Member of Parliament and Pasir Panjang assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin had yesterday asked Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein to ensure less police presence at the Perak assembly which is scheduled to meet next month.
In another development, Zambry said Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) had invited a number of BN stalwarts to speak at its convention tomorrow.
He said among them were former Gerakan president Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik and former MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, who both had a lot of experience in Perak, as well as former Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.
More than 2,000 Perak BN leaders will be attending the one-day convention to be held in Lumut.
