PKR members lodge more police reports

PETALING JAYA: Two police reports have been lodged in George Town and Kuala Lumpur by PKR leaders over the sex video implicating Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

PKR Youth chief Shahul Hamid Abdul Kadir filed the report at the Patani Road police station in George Town yesterday.

Accompanying Shahul Hamid were Bukit Gelugor PKR chairman and the party's legal and social services state bureau chairman Lim Boo Chang and division members.

In his report, Shahul Hamid urged the police to investigate the matter thoroughly and in a fair and transparent manner.

He said the ultimatum issued by the three Datuks, who exposed the video under the name “Datuk T”, to Anwar and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to resign from politics within seven days of the “exposure” amounted to criminal intimidation punishable under Section 503 of the Penal Code.

Later, Lim and several division members held up a banner outside the police station as a peaceful protest against the alleged conspiracy against Anwar.

In Kuala Lumpur, a similar report was lodged by PKR Youth exco member K. Sachithananthan.

Sachithananthan said Indian PKR members were upset that such slanderous tactics were being used to tarnish the image of their party leader.

“The Indians in PKR will organise prayers in temples for Anwar as he weathers this allegation,” he said after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi police station.

He was accompanied by about 20 Youth members.

Sachithananthan said PKR Youth members would continue to lodge police reports nationwide on the matter.
