Noriah Kasnon replaces Heng as Women, Family and Community Devt dep minister from Tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: Deputy Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon will be transferred to the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry as its deputy minister effective Tuesday.

This follows the departure of former deputy minister and Wanita MCA vice-chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie after her senate term expired last Thursday.

However, the chief secretary to the government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa said in a statement Monday that Heng would be retained in the ministry as an adviser...

"In appreciation of her experience and service, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has agreed to appoint her as adviser to the Women, Family and Community Development ministry," said Ali.

Heng was appointed as senator on Nov 16, 2006. Under the Federal Constitution, a person can only hold a senatorship for two consecutive three-year terms. - STARONLINE
