*30 OCTOBER 2017*

PMSP would suggest that the funds distributed to the Indian community by the federal government under Barisan Nasional should be monitored through an independent task force lead by coalition of NGOs.

Since 2014 till the latest Budget 2018 announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the federal government has seriously initiated SEDIC, SEED, Tekun allocation and the latest Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB).

All the initiatives introduced by the government are serious measures to uplift the Indian community.

However, lately I have been getting various feedback from the Indian community particularly the youths whereby they praise the initiatives introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, at the same times asking for more transparency and management of fund.

In order to gain more support from the the Indian community, they are asking a series of questions.

Among the questions raised are:-

1. How and who benefits from the RM250million (500,000 Indians benefited) funds by SEDIC since 2014 that was unveiled by Prime Minister in Budget 2018.

2. SEDIC has to disclose information on ngo/organisation/companies that were given funds and how much the funds were given to all this ngo/companies to carry out programs for Indian Youths/Community.

3. SEDIC has to show how the ngo/organisations benefited from these programs.

4. What is the outcome and how this has improved or increased Indian community wealth/skills/knowledge etc.

5. Progress from each NGO and it's program must be transperant to the public and Indian community.

6. All details of financial report need to be published for the public view audited by the National Audit Department to ensure no misuse of funds.

7.Contact details of the NGO must be published so that the community can call and join the programs offered by them by using SEDIC fundings.

In view of this I would suggest that an independent task force should be formed to monitor the process and identify any leakage or abuse of fund.

Then a yearly report should be consolidated for the public view.

I am very certain this mechanism will give a greater trust towards the programs introduced by the government.

I hope the government will take on my call on a positive note.
