KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- Intermittent and occasionally moderate rain is expected to occur in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang beginning Friday night (Dec 17) until Monday morning (Dec 20).
According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department today, in Kelantan, the affected areas are Tumpat, Kota Baharu, Bachok, Pasir Puteh and Machang, while in Terengganu the areas affected are Besut, Setiu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman.
In Pahang, the areas affected are Kuantan, Pekan, and Rompin.
This could cause flash floods in the low-lying areas and those near river banks.
Meanwhile, strong north-westerly winds with speeds of 40-50km per hour and waves of up to 3.5 metres high were expected to occur in the waters of Kelantan, Tengganu, Pahang, east Johor, Sarawak (Kuching, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri) Labuan and Sabah (West Coast, the Interior Areas and Kudat) from Dec 17 to 19.
The statement said that sea condition was dangerous for small boats, sea recreation and sea sports.
