GRIK, Malaysia - Members of the public have been cautioned to be wary of a scam involving the use of Perak menteri besar's forged signature and office letterheads. The scam involves people soliciting monies from unsuspecting individuals by claiming to have secured projects from the state government.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said lately there have been several such cases of people using his name and even his picture to hoodwink the people.
"They will tell them that they are able to seek projects from the Menteri Besar."
Zambry added that he had received reports on the matter and such action would only tarnish the image of the menteri besar's office.
"By showing pictures of me with the group, they will try to influence people seeking business opportunities or projects," he said after officiating the I-Play Toy Library sponsored Yayasan Emkay at Kampung Desa Permai here yesterday.
Also present were chairman of the board of trustees of Yayasan Emkay Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal Abu Bakar, former Perak Menteri Besar Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali and state deputy police chief Datuk Zakaria Yusof.
Meanwhile, Zakaria said there are still compiling information on the scam and will issue a statement later.
