The culprit who used the name of Perak Menteri Besar Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, official letterheads and seal to solicit funds from certain quarters has been identified.
The funds were collected with regard to the approval of certain state government projects, said Dr Zambry, declining however, to name the culprit or state the number of people involved in the scam.
"Up till now, the suspect has not been detained. The police are investigating and I have instructed them to gather as many cases as possible, in Perak.
"What is certain is that, every year, I receive reports of this nature on irresponsible people using forged letterheads," he said, adding that the culprit was not the person who was detained at his office last year.
He was speaking to reporters after attending a Chinese New Year function organised by the Perak Gerakan here today.
Last Wednesday, the menteri besar had asked the police to investigate those involved in the scam.
