PAS should remain in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) pact even if Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is proven to be the man in the sex video, party central committee member Mohamad Sabu has said.
Mohamad said it was his personal view that even if the man filmed having sex with a prostitute was Anwar, PKR had to make its own decision on what stand to take on the opposition leader and PKR de facto leader.
“This involves an individual, not Pakatan Rakyat. If true, the party concerned will have to make the decision,” Mohamad told reporters today.
But the former PAS vice president stressed that the Islamist party would only decide its official stand on the sex video after the police probe into the case is concluded.
Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, added that Anwar could not be proven guilty under syariah law as video recordings were not admissible as evidence.
“Anwar cannot be proven guilty as we would need four witnesses in Islam,” he said, adding that he would not comment further on the issue further as all was “speculation” at this time.
Mohamad also said the PAS consultative council will discuss the party’s stand on the video.
The sex video was first screened to senior editors and reporters at the prestigious Carcosa Seri Negara on March 21 by a man who identified himself as “Datuk T”.
Shortly after the screening, it was revealed that “Datuk T” was a collective moniker for businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay, former Melaka chief minister Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik and then-Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim.
Rahim later told reporters he had exposed the alleged Anwar sex video to show that the opposition leader was not qualified to be prime minister.
Mat Sabu seeloknya juga bersumpah laknat kerana dia dahulu telah menuduh Anwar sebagai Aljuburi wal liwati. Sila bersumpah bahawa Anwar memang meliwat.
