Broadcasting director-general Datuk Norhyati Ismail said RTM took serious view of the matter and had lodged a police report in an effort to redeem its image.
"The matter was put right and an apology was aired on the national news bulletin at midnight last night," she said in a statement.
She said an official letter of apology has also been sent to the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
The offending logo was noticed by a senior police officer who was watching a news update on 'Op Cantas' over RTM at noon Tuesday.
Norhyati said the disciplinary committee, which met on Wednesday, deliberated on further action that could be taken following the incident.
The action taken had been posted on the broadcasting department's social network site.
