Social media posts allegedly put up by Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming have landed him in trouble, with his house raided by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) today.
MCMC officers also confiscated Nga’s mobile phone, while both his parents’ home in Ayer Tawar, Sitiawan, and his service centre in Taiping were also raided.
Nga, when contacted, said the raids, which began about 3.30pm, were done simultaneously.
“They (raiding teams) were at the locations for about an hour. They took my mobile phone and notebook from my home in Tambun,” he told reporters when met at the Sungai Senam police station where he had his statement recorded.
Nga, who is also Kepayang assemblyman, said he was unaware of the social media posting being investigated by the authorities.
“That question is best forwarded to the MCMC,” he said.
It is learnt that he is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 that prohibits the improper use of network facilities or service.
