RESIDENTS of Lorong 3, Kampung Bernam Batu 11, Hutan Melintang, Teluk Intan, Perak, claim a road leading to their village is dangerous.
More than 10 families live there and the road is the main link for many school-going children and people who commute to work.
A villager, who declined to be named, said the road’s condition was dangerous to road users.
“Besides damaging their vehicles, it could also cause accidents.
“The road’s condition is aggravated by the heat, heavy rain
and poor drainage in the area.”
Seri Samak MIC assistant secretary Dr M. Saravanabavan said the poor road conditions were not a trivial matter.
He said the problem worsened when potholes were filled with water, posing a great danger to road users.
“Road users, especially motorcyclists, could be involved in accidents if they hit the potholes at night.
“Besides the uneven road, the village is also surrounded by overgrown grass.
“We are afraid that this area will become a habitat for snakes and other reptiles.
“We hope the Teluk Intan Municipal Council will take action soon.
“We have also submitted a petition, signed by 22 residents, to the council.”

A council spokesman said they had received the petition on Aug 14.
The spokesman said: “We will ask the Public Works Management Department to resurface the stretch as soon as possible.
“We hope this matter will be resolved soon.”- NST
