Police yesterday announced that they have solved the murders of Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and three others.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said they were wrapping up investigations before submitting the case to the Attorney-General's Chambers.

To date, police have arrested eight suspects, including two lawyer brothers and two women. Ismail, however, said the investigations were ongoing as police were still combing Banting for more evidence.
He was speaking to newspaper editors at a dialogue session in Bukit Aman yesterday. Present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Hussin Ismail and CID director Datuk Seri Bakri Zinin.

Bakri later said there were two task forces involved in the investigations.

Killer point to the river

One was to investigate the murders of Sosilawati, 47, her driver Kamarudin Shansudin, 44, lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32 and banker Noorhisham Mohammad, 38.

The other was to probe into the missing person's reports of victims linked to the brothers, one of whom is a Datuk.

The New Straits Times yesterday reported that police are sieving through at least 17 missing person's reports where the victims had links to the brothers.


Investigations into the brothers had revealed that numerous police reports had been lodged against them, ranging from murder to fraud.

The brothers, aged 41 and 38, are long-time residents of Taman Cempaka in Banting.



The farm was said to consist of a clubhouse, chalet, office, and grounds where livestock were reared.

Until yesterday, police forensic teams were combing the rivers and streams looking for skeletal remains or personal effects of the victims. Several bone fragments have been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for DNA testing.
