KUALA LUMPUR, 15 NOVEMBER, 2010: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Secretary General Saifuddin Nasution rejected claims that the factor of the low PKR members going to do their votes was due to former Wilayah Perseketuan Chief, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim withdrawal from the contest.

According to Saifuddin, there is no concrete evidence to prove the claim.

"That assumption is not proven. When he (Zaid) was still in contest, the percentage of people voting is seven to eight percent. Now when he withdrawn from the contest the percentage is still around that numbers," said Saifuddin who is also the MP for Machang.

"There are no significant changes on the percentage that can support that assumption," he added.

In a press conference that was held in PKR Headquarters in Tropicana today, Saifuddin told reporters that 8.4% members have done their responsibility to vote after 165 branches finish their election process.

"165 branches have votes while 57 more branches will do so on 20 and 21 November. Reports that we received so far for this election is still six where the Majlis Perwakilan Pusat (MPP) will investigate and action will be taken if the reports are true," said Saifuddin.

"We have responded to all complaints and will make sure that the election process be held in a good manner," he added.

He added that the full results of the election will be announced during the PKR Congress that will be held from 26 to 27 November.

Meanwhile, Azmin Ali is still leading Mustaffa Kamil Ayub for the Deputy President contest. According to Saifuddin, until 14 November, Azmin has received 14,751 votes while Mustaffa 3,401.

The Ampang MP, Zuraida Kamaruddin on the Woman Chief race is leading her opponent with 4,510 votes followed by Suraya Sudin (1,181) and Animah Ferrar (967).
