The iron ore project by Brazilian company Vale at Teluk Rubiah in Lumut which has drawn flak from environmental groups and locals, will go on.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said that besides being a huge investment, the national project also would have a big economic impact. He said that “The main thing is whether environmental standards for the project have been complied with.”
He added that “Besides the Environmental Impact Assessment, we have also asked for a critical assessment to be carried out as a project of this scale must be done properly.’
