TANJUNG MALIM: Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir gave state officials and journalists a "rail view" of developments along the Ipoh-Tanjung Malim route of the electric train service (ETS).

The group boarded an electric train at the Ipoh Railway Station at 9am.

They arrived at Tanjung Malim an hour later.

During his one-day working visit here, Dr Zambry visited the national car making factory at Proton City; attended a lunch function at the Tanjung Malim district office and another function at the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI).

Speaking to reporters, the mentri besar, who was taking the electric train ride for the second time since the service started last year, gave the service the thumbs-up.

"The service is on par with similar services abroad.

"I would like to encourage more people of Perak to use the service," he said.

Dr Zambry said the train ride was to give the department heads who accompanied him a better perspective about developments that were taking place along the route between here and Ipoh
