Refreshed Porsche 911 launched
Posted by: Anthony Lim

Porsche's refreshed 911 is now available in the country, and though there are some external cosmetic changes, much of what's new happens to be under the skin.

Primarily, the platform features Porsche’s first-ever production series seven-speed double clutch transmission, which is called the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) and revised engine outputs.

In red ..

The Carrera and Carrera S were the featured vehicles at the revised 911's local launch, but if you're into your Carrera 4S and Cabriolet versions, well, fear not, because they're also featured in the new lineup.

The 3.6l flat-six in the basic Carrera has been upped by 20bhp to 345bhp at 6,500rpm, though torque remains at 390Nm at 4,400rpm. As for the 3.8l block in the S verison, it's up by 30bhp to 385bhp, with 420Nm of torque on call, both at a similar rpm.

The Carrera S and Carrera 4S coupe will do the 0-100kmh sprint in 4.5secs, while the basic Carrera and Carrera S Cabriolet are just a fraction behind into the century at 4.7secs.

New specification levels include larger brakes and upgraded Porsche Stability Management (PSM), as well as a new PASM sports suspension, which is standard on the Carrera S models and an option on the basic variants.

Or white, if you prefer.

Other new features include a new intake manifold with larger air filters, LED daytime running lights, ventilated seats and a inclusion of a 6.5-inch touchscreen monitor for the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system.

Pricing for the new 911 PDK-equipped models are RM854,000 for the Carrera and RM947,000 for the Cabriolet, while the Carrera S and Carrera S Cabriolet go for RM946,000 and RM1,032,000 respectively. As for the Carrera 4, Carrera 4S and 4S Cabriolet, these are a mere snip at RM915,000, RM997,000 and RM1,087,000.

If you're still insistent on going the manual route, the option is available at approximately RM10,000 less, but the question must be why?
